“人工智能及其应用”团队是由学校重点支持的PI负责制学术科研团队，是学校“医工信”平台重点建设方向之一。团队负责人是浙江省重点人才计划科技创新领军人才，以人工智能技术作为核心研究方向，聚焦医疗健康等应用场景，重点研究智能医学影像、智能算法优先等前沿内容，致力于培养一批具有影响力的高层次创新科技人才和高水平学术研究成果。目前，团队主持有国家自然科学基金面上项目、科技部重点研发专项、国家基金委国际合作交流项目、省科技重点研发项目以及省科技进步二等奖等代表性成果，与省内数十家企业围绕图像三维仿真、工业智能协同控制、自动化机器人改造等技术环节达成深度产学研合作，积累了较好的科研成果应用基础，制定行业标准十余项。
